Nails: 'Lovey Dovey'

Yet another unconventional nail design for V-day.

May I proudly present to you, 'Lovey Dovey'. A colorful combo to represent happiness, celebration and above all...LOVE!

I'm going to try and be short on this one.

First I covered my nails with two layers of 'Pimp My Shrimp' from Catrice...all ten nails. But you can decide to give your accent nail a different background color if you like.
On the accent nail, my ring finger in this case, I used an old ballpoint pen to draw a bigger circle and right above that, a smaller one...both in 'Birds Flying High'from Catrice and 'White'from Jordana.
Underneath the bigger circles I painted a horizontal stripe with a small brush and using 'Brown' from Jordana. The small leaf-like accents were brought on with the same brush using 'Acid DC' from Catrice.
Then, let it all dry thoroughly!

While waiting I added big dots with the ballpoint on all remaining nails using the 'Birds Flying High'and the 'White'. And then I filled in between the empty spaces with little dots of 'Brown' using a toothpick.

As the accent nail is completely dry I added the details to the birdies with a nail art pen (You can also use a regular sharpie if that's what you got). And in between the lovebird I added to small red hearts.
Ahhhhh...love's in the air!!

Try it for yourself. And wear some pretty unconventionally cute nails this coming V-day.

Nails: Be My (unconventinal) Valentine

Bon siman dazzling, (which means Good week)

Valentines day is approaching...and we all know how commercialized the worldwide celebration of love and friendship is.
ALMOST every shop will be covered in white and red and eager people trying to find the perfect gift for their valentine...

And today I brought you a nail design especially made with Valentines Day in mind. Only, I decided not to use the conventional red and white combo. Thus the plea...for you to "Be My (unconventional) Valentine"

Hmmmm...a not-so-everyday combination? Mint green and hot pink...Bingo!

First I covered all the nails except the ring fingers in 'Mint Candy Apple'from Essie, and later I painted the ring fingers in 'The Pinky and The Brain'from Catrice/
Let them dry completely!
With a sharpie or a nail art pen, paint a big heart on the ring fingers and fill it in with a darker blue/green glitter hue. In this case I used 'Cosmo'from Jordana.
On the middle finger and the index I drew little hearts using 'The Pinky and The Brain' and a toothpick. Then drew little cute dotted lines under each heart with a nail art pen.

Once dry, seal it all in with your fave topcoat and go love a little out there.

Aaaaaaand that's all folks. I'll try and see if I can at least do one more v-day post before the 14th. But I won't promise. :P (What???? I'm LAZY sometimessss...you guys know that)

Miami Express

By the time you receive this post, I would be on my way to Miami.

Especially to show the excitement of this trip I did a distinguished Miami nail design called Miami Express.

I used an AVALANCHE of colors to achieve this look...

Figured out there was so much going on on them nails??

The beach scene wasn't as complicated as it looks. With a very small brush you would achieve it in no time. My true headache was the plane though...I still think it looks kinda like a disabled mosquito... But I gave up around midnight hahaha...

Swatch: After Eight (Catrice)

I discovered I had several polishes in my stash that had never been used yet...not once.

As I reached home last night I was physically and mentally on autopilot...but my nails were looking HORENDOUS!
Totally chipped, not so vivid anymore and some broke (I need a good hardener).
Some of you might just not understand, but I experience painting my nails as a moment of relaxation. So as I stepped out of the shower I laid face-down on my bed and decided upon a simple swatch.

After Eight is a deep dark mossy green color with super tiny sparklish particles. Two coats, and you're ready to go!
I guess after using Catrice several times already it is needles for me to say that I'm madly in love with the flat brush. Really, that thing is GENIUS...
The color dried relatively quick...so as I started dosing off it was as good as completely dry.

It seems to be the perfect color to use on army themed nails. Camouflage maybe?

Muddy Miss Leopard

I wanted to try some leopard print this time. And I wanted to test-drive the 'Beavis and Mudhead' (Catrice)..
Perfect!!!! I'll combine them...

Last night I made the first attempt which resulted into a major fail. Didn't like the color combination, detested the way the design turned out and was plain disgusting! Really, see for yourselves...

Couldn't force myself to look at that for more than 24 hours....yuck.
So as I reached home tonight I took them off and retried the whole process... Only, I used a different design and decided upon a different color combo. And THIS is what a heart-rob looks like...(even if I have to say that myself) I love it!

The base color is of course the 'Beavis and Mudhead' (Catrice). On the accent nails I used 'Pink Lilac' (Jordana) as the base color since it's soft and girly especially in combination with the brown. For the prints I used the 'Beavis and Mudhead' and accentuated with 'Little Brown Dress' (Essie). Again I used The ballpoint and toothpick to create the design. And I think it looks just lovely...don't you think?

On another note, I got a gig as the official make-up artist of the 'Bikers Life magazine'. (GASP) M-HM, Yeah boy... :D
I know the designer of the magazine personally, and she approached me this week to see if I was interested...
Well I DID get cramps, goosebumps and an accelerated heartbeat when the question was asked....but not enough to make mw not try the challenge out.
If it's something for me or not? Time will tell...
As for now, I'm in!!
So they are holding the Bikers Queen Contest soon and today the contestants had their professional photo shoot at three different locations on the island. And I was there helping with the make-up and stuff...HOW EXCITING IS THAT?
Didn't get to make-up ALL the 10 girls...some were wearing their own stuff and some...well some were a bit hard headed. The team I worked with is extremely fun, down to earth and... loud. And in spite of a very warm weather and having to travel around with a big bag of make-up I had an amazing time!

Doing make-up for yourself is of course always easier than doing the same thing for someone else. You already know the contour of your own face, you know your stronger side, your flaws and you know exactly what you want and how you want that. Having to make up someone else, and especially someone you've never before seen in your life, is an art... Finding yourself in front of a clear clean canvas with the task to create your best piece.

I did my best...if I get my hands on the pics of the girls, I'll make sure I'll show you!

As for now, this is it. I'm exhausted...it sure has been a long day...

'Dear Mermaid

I walked around a couple of days without having painted mý nails....and I felt NAKED!

Last night I decided to try on another look with my new polishes. This one's called 'Dear Mermaid' and it looks like this...

I'm seriously in love with my nails at the moment...seriously.
Here, I decided to include a picture of everything I used to achieve this look (minus the base and topcoat).

Base color is the Acid DC from Catrice. And on the accent nails I decided to use Cosmic from Jordana instead of the Glorious Aquarius from Essence. Difference is, the Cosmic has green glitters, which complimented the Acid DC in this case to my opinion.
The nail polish remover and the cotton swab where used for cleaning up possible mistakes around the nails of course hihi.
The stamps were made with Birds Flying High from Catrice Coolibri (Limited Edition), the BIC pen (yes just a regular ballpoint) and the wooden stick you see here. I actually filled the insides of the bigger circles with the Kiss Nail Artist pen, but it somehow faded before getting topcoated. Nevertheless...I'm happy...

...and totally dazzled!

Shrimp n' Dip

About time I tried the new goodies out, right? Hell yeah..

As you can already imagine, I wanted to try them out the very night I got them. But you know, I was tired (literally dozed off with them next to me on my bed) and since I planned to go to the beach last Tuesday (and the beach is very well known for ruining nail designs) I decided to postpone the ''itch''.

Until yesterday...
I sat down with them all  in front of me again (hahaha indecisive much) and brainstormed on my very first try out with these.

And I ended up with THIS...called 'Shrimp n' Dip'

Yup, I used the Pimp My Shrimp from Catrice and topped it off with the Circus Confetti from Essence. This was my first try on the famous glitter nails technique. (So be gentle on me)
To be honest, it took me a while to get used to my fingers being so shiny (LOL) maybe I had to try just one accent nail just to get used to the bling hahaha. But this morning when I woke up I was loving them nails crazily much.

Catrice application went effortless yet again (still in loooooovveeee with their flat brush. SOOO HANDY!). Two quick covers, and I had a totally opaque and even coverage. And the Essence, for being a glitter polish, was pretty awesome too. It allowed me to play well with the glitter, not to get chunky anywhere and it has a quite workable shine itself.

So...this is the first trial with my new polishes...hope you liked it!

It showered...polishes

There are days when you're exhausted...I mean really really worn-out, yet you can't sleep. And today's one of those days for me. I'm (very much) sleep deprived, did a scavengers hunt basically the whole day and I'm desperatelly in need of a massage (seriously).
 But I'm also ecstatic...reason why I couldn't sleep as yet. (read: hyper-kind-of-happy...yeah with the well known silly dances.)

In one of the previous posts I told you that the 'Genius in The Bottle' (Catrice) broke in shipment and I used what was left to create 'Zebra in the Golden Sunset' before it dried. Well, my sissy in law was kind enough to send me another Genius.
And I tell you. the Genius did not travel alone...(grins widely...very widely)

Reason enough for a round of silly dance on a sore body, don't you agree?. (Actually the sleepier and more exhausted, the sillier the dance steps). I laid them side by side on the bed beside me and have been admiring them with a stupid smile on my face as if waking up with a Hollywood Hunk beside you...Patrick Dempsey? Chris Hemsworth? lol...

All came with a beeeeeeaaaauuuttttiiifffuuullll (and unique) postcard made by the man himself; my big bro, Francis Sling. (You can purchase yours too on francissling.com).

Once again, a trillion thanks sissy...love you lots! You're amazing!

Also thanks to the very down-to-earth miss J.K. who brought me the goodies...it's been a pleasure!

Gosh, look at the time!!!! Scavengers hunt continues tomorrow morning so I NEED NEED NEED to get me some beauty snooze.

The Pinky & The Brain (Catrice), Circus and Pinkerbell

Hmmmm....today is one of those days we do less talking and more posting I guess. I have SO much to show you guys.

First of all, my nails.
Yesterday I tried 'The Pinky and The Brain' from Catrice and I must say that I'm truly, deeply, madly in love with this color. Seriously, it's been two days and I can't stop looking at my hands. I think it's an indescribable beautiful and girly tone of pink; hot, deep, playful and sexy...all at the same time.
Application happened in less than ten minutes (still in love with Catrice's flat brush) and with two coats I got this really opaque cover which I think looks just lovely. Dries pretty quick and has a beautiful shine which can go without a top coat...I'm not using any here.

So, what do you think?

Now the make up...
Last Saturday I decided to do another colorful combination with eye shadows. This look is called "Circus", simply because the colors really made me think of the fun of a circus.
I used red (on the eyeball), light blue (under the eye & as a base on the rest of the eyelid) & purple on the crease.
The results? CRAZY...but I liked it!

 And a PicMix with crazy faces...just for the fun.

Then on Sunday I decided to go a little less bouyiant. Besides, I was dying to try my Pinkerbell lipstick from Catrice. So I did a combo of browns on the eyes and highlighted the face with the bright and attention-calling color of my new lipstick. And it looked like this...

I think the lipstick could have been just a bit creamier on the application and maybe if they added just a teeny bit more of pigment to it, would have been glorious. But I loved the way it didn't feel thick and chunky on my lips. And even thou I had to constantly re-apply it, I think the color looked amazing.
Maybe next time I'll try it with a matte color underneath or dab a lipstick sealer on it to make it last longer. But that's next time... Gotta get running now again.
