Nails: My Smexy Leopardo

Staying a little bit on the animal print, here's another quickie with the new nail polishes.
This time it's an all over leopard print which I named "My Smexy Leopardo".

 

The goldy hue I used as a base color for the leopard nails is number 15 from a cheap Chinese brand Shengji. On the ring finger I used Blue Marlin from Slick.
Up until now I’m enjoying both polishes to the max. The consistency of the Shengji is pretty watery but it does cover the nail in two quick coats. The Slick is very thick and on the actual nail look I only used one coat.
The leopard print was achieved by dotting the Blue Marlin randomly on the nails and accentuating them with Essie's Little Brown Dress (not a new polish)

And the results? Classy and shmexy...

Nails: In Royal Occassion

Here's another quickie...

So tomorrow is Queen's Day. Which is a national holiday celebrated throughout the Dutch Kingdom (actually celebrating the birthday of the queen...not Beatrix, Juliana; the previous one). And since Curacao (my little beautiful island) is part of the Dutch Kingdom, we celebrate too.
Tomorrow is going to be the last Queens Day celebration for now. Since queen Beatrix has announced that on April 30th of this year she will abdicate and her son, Willem-Alexander will be inaugurated as king of the Dutch Kingdom.

Well, for as unpatriotic as I can be, I decided to do something on my nails for the last Queen's Day anyways.
Using the colors that are used during this celebration...
ORANGE (used wide-ranged representing the Dutch royal dynasty "House of Orange") and the color of the Dutch flag RED, WHITE and BLUE.

Yada yada yada...enough history lesson. This is the super quick nail art I ended up with...
Orange and white bases with red and blue accents...(with some gold glitters on the pinky)

Nails: 'Lovey Dovey'

Quick Quick post...

Yet another unconventional nail design for V-day.

May I proudly present to you, 'Lovey Dovey'. A colorful combo to represent happiness, celebration and above all...LOVE!

I'm going to try and be short on this one.

First I covered my nails with two layers of 'Pimp My Shrimp' from Catrice...all ten nails. But you can decide to give your accent nail a different background color if you like.
On the accent nail, my ring finger in this case, I used an old ballpoint pen to draw a bigger circle and right above that, a smaller one...both in 'Birds Flying High'from Catrice and 'White'from Jordana.
Underneath the bigger circles I painted a horizontal stripe with a small brush and using 'Brown' from Jordana. The small leaf-like accents were brought on with the same brush using 'Acid DC' from Catrice.
Then, let it all dry thoroughly!

While waiting I added big dots with the ballpoint on all remaining nails using the 'Birds Flying High'and the 'White'. And then I filled in between the empty spaces with little dots of 'Brown' using a toothpick.

As the accent nail is completely dry I added the details to the birdies with a nail art pen (You can also use a regular sharpie if that's what you got). And in between the lovebird I added to small red hearts.
Ahhhhh...love's in the air!!

Try it for yourself. And wear some pretty unconventionally cute nails this coming V-day.

Make-up: Colorful Beginnings

People do all of the craziest things for new year. My new year started in a very peculiar way...peculiar and colorful.

I combined a fucschia skinny pant with a gray and black blouse and yellow accesories for new year. And I tried this bright make up that combined the best of it all... Mostly colorful to the extremes.

So yeah, I had a pretty colorful beginning I'd say...

 

First, I covered the whole eye in a neutral tone. I like to do that, as a color solid background for whatever color I intend to use on the eye. The Eyelids were covered in yellow. The yellow I have is originally pretty light, so I used a liquid primer to help it hold and make it pop a bit more.
In the crease and up to the brow bone I used fucshia. I must say this is a pigmented powdered eye-shadow from Splash, with small gold particles. Very pretty color. I've had it for a year and barely used it, so sad!
I dashed some of the pink on the inner lower lower lid as well and the rest of the lid was painted in turquoise...just to add a drop of fun to it.

In the outer corner of the upper lid I accentuated the look with dark gray and topped it off with fake lashes from KISS (I think these were the Juicy Volume #2)

As colorful as my new year could get...
Fireworks were happening on my face as well as in the sky. And I was happy with the results... as crazy as it might have looked..

Would you dare color your 2013 crazy...?? Be it with make-up, nails, cooking, crafting or with (fill in your talent/passion). Go ahead...sprinkle some color on your new year...

Make-Up: 'Blue water Flamingoes'

HAPPY NEW YEAR MY LOVEBUGSSSS!!!!

We made it through yet another year. And I'm happy to have you guys in 2013 with me... Be it to just read my blog, or to comment every now and then, or to inspire me, or to believe in my craziness....

In my last post I promised that I had some pending posts. One of them was make- up looks...

I thought I could make a collage of the make up looks to show you, but when I went through them I decided otherwise...

So here's the first post...'Blue water Flamingoes', a combination of gold, peach and blue.

To achieve this look is pretty easy. I first covered the whole eyelid with a goldy shade to start with. Then I added a peach shade on half the eyeball area...the outer half in this case. Next, I put some dark blue on the crease and accentuated the eye with a black shade in a V-shape starting from the upper lashes up to the outer crease. Don't forget to blend everything well. It is what makes a make up look beautiful and finished.

I wore a peach dress with blue accesoires...royal blue... So I wanted to have some blue in my make-up too but not too much. In addition to the blue in the crease, I lined my inner lower lid with a liquid eyeliner in electric blue...

And the make-up is ready... You can go out there and party like crazy now!

Nails: "Snow, man!!"

Christmas is just around the corner. The season of joy, peace, sharing, loving...and SNOW (in certain continents).

Here on Curacao it never snows...and it probably never will, unless nature goes really 'kaboozles'. So I decided to do a snowy Christmas nail art...just for fun. And I called it "Snow, man!" just to portrait the irony of having "snow" in a particularly warm weather Island in the Caribbean.

I first started with two coats of 'Sassy Sparkle' from LA Colors (Color Craze) on both my ring fingers and 'Ciao Bella' from Sinful Colors on all remaining fingers. Let them dry thoroughly as this is going to be the background color for the nail art and if it's not dry you'll end up with messy nails.

Once it's dry I added two circles on my index fingers using a dotting tool. A larger circle as the snowman's belly and a smaller one for the head. In between the circles I left a small open space for mr. snowman's shawl.
On the remaining fingers I added a snowflake (Conad stamp nr m59) and three dots with the dotting tool.

When mr. snowman's body was dry I drew a red shawl using a fine brush in 'Hot Red' from Jordana and added a green accent with 'Dark Green' from Nabi. With the same brush a painted what would be the nose of mr. snowman using 'Perfect Sunset' from LA Colors (Color Craze).
Then with the dotting tool and 'Black' from Jordana, I added eyes and a set of buttons for the snowman...

Ready!

   

Wait until it's dry...add your favorite topcoat and you're ready to rock these totally COOL nails for Christmas.

 


You can try this with an elf instead, with mr. or mrs Claus, a Christmas tree or Gingerbread man... The whole idea is to have fun!

Pieces of Pastel

Another make-up look it is...

Honestly, I'm getting tired of the wait myself. So I might do another nail look shortly...

But in the mean time, this is it...

'Pieces of Pastel' a look I wore yesterday and personally loved it!

On the eyelid I applied pastel pink all over and white from the crease to the brow bone. Then I added light blue under the eyes, but not all the way to the inner corner.

In the inner corner I applied light green instead.

And then I added dark gray to the outer corner of the eye to accentuate the look, blend them...and ready steady.

 And since I mentioned my hair in the previous post...

In this post I simply parted a section in the front and tucked it back with a few hair pins.

The rest of my hair is held with a banana clip. As simple as that...

Well...that was it for today, lovebugs...

Playtime!!!

This is yet another make-up look I did before the brows were shaved (yes, I shave them instead of plucking)...On the pictures my brows look horid!!! I think they look like Gretchen...and fact is that I don't know anybody by that name. But I think that's the name of the unibrow lady in the cartoons. No offense if any blog reader's name is Gretchen.
My brows now look neat and beautiful again...and am I happy for that!! You'll get to see pictures of the after...as soon as I get my hands on them.

As for now, this is the make up I wore last Friday.
I call it 'Playtime'...again a combination of playful, juvenile colors. Purple, Hot Pink and dark blue...

I covered my eyelids in purple and added hot pink to the crease...all the way up almost up to the brows. It is normal to make night looks more intense...and I do that by using a dark shade in the outer corner of my eyes...black, dark brown...I even used a dark turquoise once. This time it was dark blue...I love this tone of dark blue!!
To highlight the eyes a bit I dabbed white right under the brows.

A very tin line of liquid eyeliner, mascara and a dash of plum blush...and I was ready to head out. In the car I added a light pink gloss (you can see it on the last picture)...and that was it...
And Playtime!!!!

(giggles)...and YES...I'm wearing my Natural hair in a pouf!!! :P Easy yet beautiful...

Swatch: Pastel Blue

Another quicky...and this time I decided to go for a swatch.

One of the polishes I bought in Miami was the Nabi 'Pastel Blue'. Remember how I told you I got them for a bargain price?
Well this morning it was the turn for this pastel blue.

I have been searching for a baby blue polish for a while. Only, I wanted one without any shimmer. The Pastel Blue is a bit deceiving in the bottle I must say. I thought it looked lighter. But on my hand it looks a bright-ish pastel blue.

The concistancy is very thick (dislike!) and the application didn't go smooth. I felt as though it was going to look streaky..thank God, it did proof me wrong.

I like the color thou. It's vivid and quite eye-catching. Pardon the smudges by the way...the nails were done in the car!!!!

Still looking for the baby blue...without shimmer.

'Superheroe Love

Now, I know it’s been a long time...and this time you should blame E.L. James.  Eversince I'm back from Miami, I'm stuck on the 'Fifty Shades Trilogy'. (sigh) I'm really doing my best not to devour the books...

I'll consider doing a post with my review on these books on my personal blog, 'The Chronicles of Sy'...

Found some time to start trying out my newest aquisitions and for today we have 'Superheroe Love'...
A matte based, very simple look.

The pink is 'Dream On' and the blue is 'Ciao Bella'...both from Sinful Colors. I used the Matte-ly in love topcoat from Hard Candy on the Pink nails so to achieve a perfectly matte finish.
On the accent nails, when the blue polish was completely dry of course, I painted a little heart with the pink using a very small brush. And when this too was dry I outlined it with a yellow nail art polish.

Looks very superheroe-ish to me...Lol
And it was very quick and easy...allowing me enough time in between the waiting for the nails to dry to go read some more pages of the Fifty Shades.

Gotta go now, lovebugs. Not to read thou (I guess) hahah

Boys and Girls

This time I have a make-up look I wore recently.

I know it looks a lot like the one I called Circus, yet it's different. Go ahead, click on the name and see for yourselves...

I called this one 'Boys and Girls'. Simply because my all times bestie recently gave birth to a beautiful and healthy baby boy. And while visiting her I noticed once more how everything was in the room was blue...announcing that it's a boy. An this made me think how most of the times pink will represent girls and how blue is the color used for boys.

The eyelids are simply a combination of a dark pink and a blue eyeshadow. And under the eye I used a liquid eyeliner in electric blue.

And THAT'S how it looked...

Personally loved it!

Pair it with soft pink lipstick (not used on the pictures)...and you're ready to rock the streets.

Hmmmm...next colors I'll be using? No idea....any suggestions??
