Make-up: Colorful Beginnings

People do all of the craziest things for new year. My new year started in a very peculiar way...peculiar and colorful.

I combined a fucschia skinny pant with a gray and black blouse and yellow accesories for new year. And I tried this bright make up that combined the best of it all... Mostly colorful to the extremes.

So yeah, I had a pretty colorful beginning I'd say...

 

First, I covered the whole eye in a neutral tone. I like to do that, as a color solid background for whatever color I intend to use on the eye. The Eyelids were covered in yellow. The yellow I have is originally pretty light, so I used a liquid primer to help it hold and make it pop a bit more.
In the crease and up to the brow bone I used fucshia. I must say this is a pigmented powdered eye-shadow from Splash, with small gold particles. Very pretty color. I've had it for a year and barely used it, so sad!
I dashed some of the pink on the inner lower lower lid as well and the rest of the lid was painted in turquoise...just to add a drop of fun to it.

In the outer corner of the upper lid I accentuated the look with dark gray and topped it off with fake lashes from KISS (I think these were the Juicy Volume #2)

As colorful as my new year could get...
Fireworks were happening on my face as well as in the sky. And I was happy with the results... as crazy as it might have looked..

Would you dare color your 2013 crazy...?? Be it with make-up, nails, cooking, crafting or with (fill in your talent/passion). Go ahead...sprinkle some color on your new year...

Make-Up: 'Blue water Flamingoes'

HAPPY NEW YEAR MY LOVEBUGSSSS!!!!

We made it through yet another year. And I'm happy to have you guys in 2013 with me... Be it to just read my blog, or to comment every now and then, or to inspire me, or to believe in my craziness....

In my last post I promised that I had some pending posts. One of them was make- up looks...

I thought I could make a collage of the make up looks to show you, but when I went through them I decided otherwise...

So here's the first post...'Blue water Flamingoes', a combination of gold, peach and blue.

To achieve this look is pretty easy. I first covered the whole eyelid with a goldy shade to start with. Then I added a peach shade on half the eyeball area...the outer half in this case. Next, I put some dark blue on the crease and accentuated the eye with a black shade in a V-shape starting from the upper lashes up to the outer crease. Don't forget to blend everything well. It is what makes a make up look beautiful and finished.

I wore a peach dress with blue accesoires...royal blue... So I wanted to have some blue in my make-up too but not too much. In addition to the blue in the crease, I lined my inner lower lid with a liquid eyeliner in electric blue...

And the make-up is ready... You can go out there and party like crazy now!

Feature Post: Smokey Madness

Feature feature featuuuuuurrreeee....(read that in a melodious high pitched voice)

Yes lovebugs...it's time for another feature post. And I'm very excited to present today this friend and partner in crime of mine. I mean, if people pay close attention to our interactions, we'd probably be banned from civilization. It's THAT crazy boy, that crazy. But hell do I love the craziness...

Today we have the 'Smokey Madness' by, Mamiluka (Miluska Hansen)

She's crazy, gorgeous, fun and a couple of other things I'm not allowed to mention on my blog hahahaha (If you hear anything happened to me after posting this blog, it's probably her fault. She's gonna KILL me!! hahaha)
But ok, le friend got experimenting last Saturday and came up with this rockin' smokey look.
The whole experiment took place in a moment of total madness...

Here's the explanation I got from the make-up artist herself...

So it was this Saturday morning and I woke up realizing that I have 10 days to complete 10 assignments for school on which I normally spend a week each.. I was feeling down... so I went and took a bath, dressed myself up and started doing my makeup.. I mean.. I'll be going into history for breaking my own record so why shouldn't  I do it looking bootylicius :P   

I started off by priming my whole face with Milk of Magnesia ( to oil the face down) 

then I applied a cream eyeliner in dark brown on the zone 1 of my eyelid. 

with my 120 color eye shadow pallet I applied some black on the eye and blended it in with some brown.. ( for the natural look ) 

highlighted the crease and voila !! 

going in to history !!

And you bet it's a total home-run into history if you'd ask me.

These were the bootylicious results....

Pieces of Pastel

Another make-up look it is...

Honestly, I'm getting tired of the wait myself. So I might do another nail look shortly...

But in the mean time, this is it...

'Pieces of Pastel' a look I wore yesterday and personally loved it!

On the eyelid I applied pastel pink all over and white from the crease to the brow bone. Then I added light blue under the eyes, but not all the way to the inner corner.

In the inner corner I applied light green instead.

And then I added dark gray to the outer corner of the eye to accentuate the look, blend them...and ready steady.

 And since I mentioned my hair in the previous post...

In this post I simply parted a section in the front and tucked it back with a few hair pins.

The rest of my hair is held with a banana clip. As simple as that...

Well...that was it for today, lovebugs...

Playtime!!!

This is yet another make-up look I did before the brows were shaved (yes, I shave them instead of plucking)...On the pictures my brows look horid!!! I think they look like Gretchen...and fact is that I don't know anybody by that name. But I think that's the name of the unibrow lady in the cartoons. No offense if any blog reader's name is Gretchen.
My brows now look neat and beautiful again...and am I happy for that!! You'll get to see pictures of the after...as soon as I get my hands on them.

As for now, this is the make up I wore last Friday.
I call it 'Playtime'...again a combination of playful, juvenile colors. Purple, Hot Pink and dark blue...

I covered my eyelids in purple and added hot pink to the crease...all the way up almost up to the brows. It is normal to make night looks more intense...and I do that by using a dark shade in the outer corner of my eyes...black, dark brown...I even used a dark turquoise once. This time it was dark blue...I love this tone of dark blue!!
To highlight the eyes a bit I dabbed white right under the brows.

A very tin line of liquid eyeliner, mascara and a dash of plum blush...and I was ready to head out. In the car I added a light pink gloss (you can see it on the last picture)...and that was it...
And Playtime!!!!

(giggles)...and YES...I'm wearing my Natural hair in a pouf!!! :P Easy yet beautiful...

'Strawberry Chocolate Swirls'

Yet another make-up look...the nails are still in treatment :p

By the way...pardon me the undone brows in both the make-up looks, I'm obliged not to shave them for a week. The pictures were taken last Saturday. they look worse now. But Í shouldn't shave them yet...until this Saturday, for a project I'm about to do...
As soon as I'm done with the project I'll tell you more about it. (probably)

But ok...today's look...'Strawberry Chocolate Swirls'
A combination Of pink and browns...
Not all too soft or too bouyiant. Perfect if you're someone who isn't used to using a lot of colors. (Thou that person is not me..as you might have already noticed)

A light shade of pink was dabbed on half the lid and under the eyes. Then, on the outer half of the eyelid and all the way up the crease I added a sparkly medium-dark brown. To accentuate the look I added a darker shade of brown in the sparkly one on the outer corner of the eye and added a very fine line with a liquid eye-liner, as close to my lashes as possible. Dashed some white in the inner corner of the eye and lightly along the brows ...et Voila!! Sweet, swirly and ready to go.

The pictures were taken after I already got home, so I my lip gloss already wore off completely. But I used a light pink gloss with little sparkles...which to my opinion, matched beautifully.

Now, that's the look I had for today...

Ballet Night

Today it's time for yet another make-up look.
Mainly because I'm trying to give the nails a week rest. I've had mayor breakage, splitting and chipping..to the point I cut them short and am treat them a while...

In the mean time this is one of the recent make-up looks I sported on a crazy GNO (Girls Night Out).

I'd call this "Ballet Night". A simple combination of white, fucshia and black.
Imagine a girl in a pink and white tutu pirouetting through the night (ever mentioned I have a vivid imagination?? Lol)

On the inner eye I used an off-white shade, which looks pretty much light on the pictures. The fucshia was just applied in the middle of the eyelids and on the outer eye I applied black... spreading it on the crease and just a little bit under the eye in the outer corner. A nude lipgloss, and voila... ready to rumba the whole night!

Boys and Girls

This time I have a make-up look I wore recently.

I know it looks a lot like the one I called Circus, yet it's different. Go ahead, click on the name and see for yourselves...

I called this one 'Boys and Girls'. Simply because my all times bestie recently gave birth to a beautiful and healthy baby boy. And while visiting her I noticed once more how everything was in the room was blue...announcing that it's a boy. An this made me think how most of the times pink will represent girls and how blue is the color used for boys.

The eyelids are simply a combination of a dark pink and a blue eyeshadow. And under the eye I used a liquid eyeliner in electric blue.

And THAT'S how it looked...

Personally loved it!

Pair it with soft pink lipstick (not used on the pictures)...and you're ready to rock the streets.

Hmmmm...next colors I'll be using? No idea....any suggestions??

'Feasting in Sri-Lanka'

And it's time for a new nail art....yes babyyyy!!!!

This is the promised NOTW (Nail Of The Week)...even thou I think it's not going to make it until Saturday...

It's called 'Feasting in Sri-Lanka". Simply because it made me think of the beautiful Sari the women wear to the festivities in the book I'm actually reading. The story is built in Sri-Lanka and oftentimes the writer describes the Sari the women wore for different occasions...in details and color....

Here...travel to Sri-Lanka with me...

Used colors; Purple Punch (Jordana), Limestone (Sally Hansen) and Chestnut (Jordana)...ofcoursewith the white dots in White (Jordana).
The two accent nails were water marbles and when totally dry I accentuated with the white dots for simple embellishment.I love how it turned out to be...REALLY do.

My opinion of the Limestone so far...It's not as creamy and opaque as it looked in the bottle. If you apply it too slow it might leave streaks behind on your nail. The good thing? It dried super quick...

I normally don't do this...But on Sunday I matched my eye make-up with my nails...just the colors. And no, I didn't use the Limeade(L.A.Colors)...this is just eye shadow...

YUP...green on the upper lid, purple right under the eyes and a dash of gold in the corners of the eyes...
Pretty much extravagant...I know.
First I thought I'd try to switch the green and the purple(after the make up was already done)...but hey, I'm not a morning person, I was late!!!

Nevertheless I'm pretty cool with the outcome.

I'm fighting between sleeping and reading on..lemme go check if I can read another chapter before mi eyes win this battle completely.

Caramel Covered Bananas and hauling

As promised in my last post, there was another make-up look; the one I wore last Sunday. This one's called 'Caramel Covered Bananas'.
I wore a dress that had beige, blue and black as the predominant colors. But in between all these deep colors, there where dashes of banana yellow, honey and purple. So I opted for yellow and bronze eyes to accentuate those colors in the dress.
And this is how it turned out to be...

Right from the inner corner until the half of the eyelid was made a light banana yellow tone and the outer half of the eye and the bone where given a bronzey tone.
To intensify the look I tight lined the upper lid and painted a very narrow line with theliquid eyeliner on half the eyelid as close to the lash-line as possible.

Status? Overall... pretty satisfied....

By the way.... I've also been HAULINGGGG!!!
It is official...I'm pretty much addicted I guess. Last Thursday I had to take the mom to the supermarket after work. It is normally the hour I use to read and stuff...since I usually just sit and wait in the car as she takrs her time to grocery shop..
This time I had to buy soap and hair gel thou...
"Soap and gel, soap and gel, soap and gel..." I repeated as I entered the cosmetic department of the supermarket. Everything went well...until I stood in the row waiting to pay and I saw them.....nail polish to drop death for... And I just HAD to have 'em...( especially the blue one)

Sally Hansen Hard as Nails in Limestone, Teal Steel and Nail'd it!

As incredible as it might sound, these are my very first Sally Hansen polishes in the actual stash. I have used the Sally Hansen top coats before, but not the colors...

 So, as soon as I try these on I'll let you know.

Besides nail polish, I also bought the jumbo eye pencil from L.A. Colors in Limeade...
This is the color it says to be...(picture from the official website of L.A. Color cosmetics)

I might try it on later on when I head to brunch with my girls...depending on what the make-up turn out to be.
All by all, I'm super happy with my newbies....
