Nails: My Smexy Leopardo

Staying a little bit on the animal print, here's another quickie with the new nail polishes.
This time it's an all over leopard print which I named "My Smexy Leopardo".

The goldy hue I used as a base color for the leopard nails is number 15 from a cheap Chinese brand Shengji. On the ring finger I used Blue Marlin from Slick.
Up until now I’m enjoying both polishes to the max. The consistency of the Shengji is pretty watery but it does cover the nail in two quick coats. The Slick is very thick and on the actual nail look I only used one coat.
The leopard print was achieved by dotting the Blue Marlin randomly on the nails and accentuating them with Essie's Little Brown Dress (not a new polish)

And the results? Classy and shmexy...

Well, This was it for today lovebugs. Hope you loved the look

XOXO

Nails: "Zebra's ready to Party"

So today its just going to be a really short post (as short as possible); I intended to fill it with loads of pics, but...a technical difficulty happened and there's a slight change of plans.

So, ok here's the thing

Like about two weeks ago I bought a handful of new polishes. These were both brands I don't have yet but I still bought them because 1. I was curious and 2. I needed to pamper myself for a while. And Last Saturday...well...you guessed it right, bought 4 more. (No, I'm not an addict)

Divided the first purchase in three different nail looks but lost the pictures of the previous two somehow when I changed my phone. (Bummer, I know...). So I decided to do quick series of these newbies. Each time one nail look and my personal review of the brand. Shall we?

First look "Zebra'S ready to Party" , achieved with Funky Yellow from Kleancolor(the new polish) and a simple black polish.

For being a neon hue I think the lacquer is quite opaque. With two tin coats I had it covered.
To my opinion the consistency could have been more shiny. I HAD to use topcoat to give it more live.
But overall I'm super content with the results; it's bright, cute, easy application and dries pretty fast. Am ready to try the other Kleancolor polishes I bought.
(Print simply achieved with a cheap nail stamp I bought last year) :P

Nails: La-la-lavender

I promised some of you I'd post yesterday...
But my lazy butt got the best of me.
But here it is...my new nail art.

I call it "La-la-lavender". And it's quite simple. (Believe me...much simpler that it actually might look.)
I painted the ring finger and the middle finger first in a solid white color. And for the rest of the fingers I chose Silky Purple from Jordana.
Once the white was totally dried I used an old ballpoint pen to add five big dots in a circle. And use a toothpick to drag a line in each dot unto the center of the circle. For the big flowers I used Purple Glam from Jordana.
Next I used a scissor to cut the other end of the toothpick and used it in the same sequence to create smaller flowers in Nail
'd it from Sally Hansen.
Almost done!!! Use a clean toothpick dipped in green polish to draw fine lines that look like the stems from these flowers... I used Limestone frome Sally Hansen.
And voila...my "La-la-lavender" nails. Of course you can use any color combination you like. Peach, pink, red, orange...you name it!
Hope you enjoyed...
Buh-Bye, lovebugs.

Nails: Felt like Star Trek

Hey Guys...
Lately I’ve been messing with the layout of the blog. So if you noticed, the changes might have been annoying. But I’m far not satisfied...so bear with me a while longer.

This week I decided to try out another look from Cutepolish, the Easy Glaxy Nail Art.
You know how some people make some things seem sooooo easy? Well she’s one of those. Click on the name and watch for yourselves. Sigh...
In my case I tried a dark blue polish instead of the black (Used Blue Lagoon from L.A. Colors). In person it does look darker thou...the camera flash made it look lighter than it really was). And instead of cutting a small piece of a triangular sponge to sponge the nebula, I used small eye-shadow applicators. (hihihi, I sorta like to try out my own things sometimes)
These were the results. Absolutely not as galaxy-perfect as the original but...I think it was totally wearable!

Gonna keep trying to fine-tune it....sure! Lol

In the mean time...this was it for today.

Have an awesome weekend, lovebugs!

Nails: In Royal Occassion

Here's another quickie...

So tomorrow is Queen's Day. Which is a national holiday celebrated throughout the Dutch Kingdom (actually celebrating the birthday of the queen...not Beatrix, Juliana; the previous one). And since Curacao (my little beautiful island) is part of the Dutch Kingdom, we celebrate too.
Tomorrow is going to be the last Queens Day celebration for now. Since queen Beatrix has announced that on April 30th of this year she will abdicate and her son, Willem-Alexander will be inaugurated as king of the Dutch Kingdom.

Well, for as unpatriotic as I can be, I decided to do something on my nails for the last Queen's Day anyways.
Using the colors that are used during this celebration...
ORANGE (used wide-ranged representing the Dutch royal dynasty "House of Orange") and the color of the Dutch flag RED, WHITE and BLUE.

Yada yada yada...enough history lesson. This is the super quick nail art I ended up with...
Orange and white bases with red and blue accents...(with some gold glitters on the pinky)
Enjoy...

There, I hope you liked it.

Have you done anything crazy with your nails for Queen's day? Let me know!
In the mean time, I've already thought about my next nail art. Got a couple of days off, so you'll probably hear from me soon again (I'm gonna do my best...really)

Misc: May Photo Challenge

Well, it's that time of the month again...
Yups..time for another photo challenge. (I mean, what else did you think?)@2

It's been said that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, still media and everything around us is (trying to) draw us a certain image of what is beautiful...isn't it so?
Which made me wonder, What if the beholder perceived beauty without the worldly criterion of beauty?

Well this month we decide to dedicate it to everything beautiful.
In the end, when we pay close attention there's beauty all around us. Even in places we fear to look and in the corners we oftentimes won't take a second look at.

So here's the thing. Starting May 1st show us everything beautiful that you have around AND within.
Remember, what you find beautiful doesn't necessarily need to be according to the generic/worldly standards of beauty. It's whatever YOU find beautiful!!!

The Rules are still the same as all the previous months:

  1. Take a picture a day that you think fits the daily description
(Remember, it doesn't need to be generic and people don't necessarily need to agree with you. It's how YOU see it!)
  2. You can use any photo taking device you want
  3. Share your pics with the rest of us.
(If you're using Twitter, use the hashtag #BeautyDepartment)
  4. Don't forget to have loads of fun while at it.
Free your creativity and let's enjoy another beautiful month together.

p.s. If perhaps you have suggestions (maybe for upcoming themes and daily words) feel free to mail me at hellodazzlingblog@gmail.com or leave your comments below.

That's it for today lovebugs,

Last week an FB friend posted a very interesting tutorial vid of this cute design.

Anyways...here you go! ENJOY!!

How pretty is THAT???
I''m curious to see if one of you guys are going to try it to and how it will come out.
Of course you can try other colour combos as well...
Or different colours on each finger!!

Let me know...

Until then!

So here you go...

"Here cometh April again, and as I can see the world hath more fools in it than ever."

Misc: March Photo Challenge

February is almost ending and it's time to post the photo challenge for March. (YEAYYY)

I tell you, making monthly photo challenges is harder than I thought!!! WAAAYY HARDER!! But I'm keeping up...(Yeah babeh!!!!)

The theme for March is FRIENDSHIP.

No unknown teritory for any of us I suppose. :p We all have/had friendships (of some kind)!

Some would make new friends easily, while others don't. Some are overprotective friends and others give their friends as much space as needed to be themselves and express themselves freely.
And to each of us the word friendship brings up different mental pictures and different feelings.
In the end...that's what makes life (and friendship) so exciting...the different point of views!
And THAT'S what it's all about in March. Share with us your two cents on friendship. Take us on a Tour through your point of view on this topic. :)

So here it is:

The rules are the same:
  1. Take a pictue a day that you think fits the daily description
(Remember, it doesn't need to be generic and people don't necessarily need to agree with you. It's how YOU see it!)
  2. You can use any photo taking device you want
  3. Share your pics with the rest of us.
(If you're using Twitter, use the hashtag #TourDeFriends)
  4. Don't forget to have loads of fun while at it.
Am already excited to see what you will come up with this month. In the past month I've seen some pretty interesting interpretations...LOVED IT.
You can tell your friends to join the challenge too, of course.

Wouldn't it be interesting to see the Tour of Friendship through the eyes of your friends?

If you have any suggestions (maybe for upcoming themes or daily words) or questions you can always mail me at hellodazzlingblog@gmail.com and let me know. Or leave your comments below of course...

Bueno lovebugs,

See you guys around.

Nails: 'Doodle my Heart' & 'Cloud Nine'

Riiiight before V-day...yet another unconventional nail look. OMG...everywhere is stacked with red and white....bears, flowers, chocolate boxes, candy...you know how it goes, right?

Well here, two easy breezey looks to quickly make your nails V-day ready. (in an unconventional way)

The first is a silly one I did last week but 'didn't have enough time to post.
The 'Doodle My Heart' nails...

Can you say easy???

I painted my nails in 'Genius in The Bottle' from Catrice and 'Chifon' from Jordana.
Once the nails were completely dry I grabbed a nail art pen (you can also use a sharpie) and doodled away on the Chifon nails.
Hearts, kisses, love...you choose.
Once dry, top it with your favorite topcoat to seal your art and TA-DA!!!
Unconventional and simple...

Then we have 'Cloud Nine', multi-colored, girly and fun.

All but the accent nails were painted in 'Morning Glory' from LA COLORS. Two coats will do the trick.
The middle finger was painted in white first sine I wanted to use the pink glittery glow in the dark polish from Claire's and it's very sheer.
The ring finger 'Light Blue' from Nabi.

When the accent nails are dry (paint them first so they'd dry while you paint the others), cover the middle finger with your glittery shade of choice and used a dotting tool dipped in white polish to paint cloud-like skuiglee (word not existent) clouds on the ring finger. And let it dry!!!
Once ready, paint a big heart in a bright color on the nail surrounded by small flying hearts all around.

Ahhhhh....love is in the air!!!

Top off with your favorite top-coat and drift away with love...

Well...happy love and friendship day tomorrow, my lovebugs!!! I love and appreciate you guys immensely...
Lots of kisses and warm hugs...

In The Kitchen: Yamie Yamie Corn on the Cob

In the past weekend we had BBQ at home. And as a side I prepared some corn on the cob that came out delicious!!!

What you need:
- enough coconut milk to boils the corn in
- teaspoon of seasoning
- tablespoon of Sugar
- tablespoon of salt
- 3 to 4 big slices of garlic
- 2 tbspns of garlic butter
- 1 tbs of  cream cheese (mixed with powdered sugar)
- pinch of grated parmesan cheese

I used three cans of coconut milk. I mixed them with the seasoning, the salt, the sugar and the sliced garlic. Next I boiled the corn in this concoction for about 5 minutes.
And let it cool down a bit, leaving the corn to marinate in the mixture.

Next I added the garlic butter and the cream cheese to a clean pan and cooked each corn for about 2-3 minutes each. For ease of the process I pushed sticks in the corn before cooking them.
As soon as I was ready cooking them I put them on a piece of aluminium foil, sprinkled just a little bit of parmesan and rolled them up.

To keep them warm while we waited I pre-heated the oven, turned it off as soon as all the corn was ready and put the corn in the already warm oven.

...and enjoy!!!!

Nails: 'Lovey Dovey'

Quick Quick post...

Yet another unconventional nail design for V-day.

May I proudly present to you, 'Lovey Dovey'. A colorful combo to represent happiness, celebration and above all...LOVE!

I'm going to try and be short on this one.

First I covered my nails with two layers of 'Pimp My Shrimp' from Catrice...all ten nails. But you can decide to give your accent nail a different background color if you like.
On the accent nail, my ring finger in this case, I used an old ballpoint pen to draw a bigger circle and right above that, a smaller one...both in 'Birds Flying High'from Catrice and 'White'from Jordana.
Underneath the bigger circles I painted a horizontal stripe with a small brush and using 'Brown' from Jordana. The small leaf-like accents were brought on with the same brush using 'Acid DC' from Catrice.
Then, let it all dry thoroughly!

While waiting I added big dots with the ballpoint on all remaining nails using the 'Birds Flying High'and the 'White'. And then I filled in between the empty spaces with little dots of 'Brown' using a toothpick.

As the accent nail is completely dry I added the details to the birdies with a nail art pen (You can also use a regular sharpie if that's what you got). And in between the lovebird I added to small red hearts.
Ahhhhh...love's in the air!!

Try it for yourself. And wear some pretty unconventionally cute nails this coming V-day.

Misc: February Photo Challenge

I am a woman with perfectly crazy friends. And among the things I love about them, I adore that pinch of craziness as well...

A couple of days ago one of them friends messaged me asking if the Resolute January Photo Challenge counts only for January...

"uhhhh...obviously...(raised eyebrow)...why?"

Well he wants to do a picture a day for the whole YEAR (yup, you read that right!). But as he says, the daily "guideline"helps him achieve this.
So we decided that he'll choose a theme for each month and I'll try and help him with the guidelines.

For the simple heck of it,
for if you feel crazy enough to go on another photochallenge or
if you missed the january one and wanted to embark in the true challenge of taking a photo a day...here's the February one.

The theme he chose was "THE WORLD". And after pondering for quite a while I came up with these pin points. How do you see the world? The World through your eyes...

So here it goes.
Take a picture a day of something that you think fits to the daily description. It doesn't need to be generic and people don't necessarily need to agree with you. It's how YOU see it!
Share your pics with the rest of us. If you're using Twitter, use the hashtag #TrueMyEyes .

I don't yet know if I'll do February... I might or I might not.
For as long as I can endure the challenge to make a monthly photochallenge...you'll receive one of these monthly hihihi. I might have to discuss some of the upcoming themes LOL

p.s. It's no mistake that February starts and ends with the same words. :P

Have fun while at it!!! :)

If you have any suggestions (maybe for upcoming themes or daily words) or questions you can always mail me at hellodazzlingblog@gmail.com and let me know. Or leave your comments below of course...

Bueno lovebugs,

See you guys around.

Nails: Be My (unconventinal) Valentine

Bon siman dazzling, (which means Good week)

Valentines day is approaching...and we all know how commercialized the worldwide celebration of love and friendship is.
ALMOST every shop will be covered in white and red and eager people trying to find the perfect gift for their valentine...

And today I brought you a nail design especially made with Valentines Day in mind. Only, I decided not to use the conventional red and white combo. Thus the plea...for you to "Be My (unconventional) Valentine"

Hmmmm...a not-so-everyday combination? Mint green and hot pink...Bingo!

First I covered all the nails except the ring fingers in 'Mint Candy Apple'from Essie, and later I painted the ring fingers in 'The Pinky and The Brain'from Catrice/
Let them dry completely!
With a sharpie or a nail art pen, paint a big heart on the ring fingers and fill it in with a darker blue/green glitter hue. In this case I used 'Cosmo'from Jordana.
On the middle finger and the index I drew little hearts using 'The Pinky and The Brain' and a toothpick. Then drew little cute dotted lines under each heart with a nail art pen.

Once dry, seal it all in with your fave topcoat and go love a little out there.

Aaaaaaand that's all folks. I'll try and see if I can at least do one more v-day post before the 14th. But I won't promise. :P (What???? I'm LAZY sometimessss...you guys know that)
Haha, anyways... love you, lovebugs!!!

In the Kitchen: Spicy Garlic Shrimp

It's official...most of my friends are total crazies. Especially when it comes to sea food.

Yesterday I had a meeting with my friend Luka at my place. To discuss serious matters of course....
I said, "Well I got shrimp" and she answered "ok, I'll bring wine". And that's exactly what happened!

So 'Spicy Garlic Shrimps' and white Zin it was...

The Shrimp was prepared in extra virgin olive oil and garlic and the sauce contained sugar, sesame oil, soy sauce, chili sauce and Chinese rice wine....

Fry the shrimps in garlic and olive oil until pink on both sides. In the mean while, mix the other ingredients, and put them aside.
Once the shrimps are ready, add the mixture of the sauce and ready.

HERE...the outcome....and it tasted mind-blowing delicious!!!

Still Sizzling in the pan

SERVED!!!

Bon Apetit
The meeting was successful..yeah. More than successful hahahaha

Try it for yourselves lovebugs...it's just simply delicious!

Make-up: Colorful Beginnings

People do all of the craziest things for new year. My new year started in a very peculiar way...peculiar and colorful.

I combined a fucschia skinny pant with a gray and black blouse and yellow accesories for new year. And I tried this bright make up that combined the best of it all... Mostly colorful to the extremes.

So yeah, I had a pretty colorful beginning I'd say...

First, I covered the whole eye in a neutral tone. I like to do that, as a color solid background for whatever color I intend to use on the eye. The Eyelids were covered in yellow. The yellow I have is originally pretty light, so I used a liquid primer to help it hold and make it pop a bit more.
In the crease and up to the brow bone I used fucshia. I must say this is a pigmented powdered eye-shadow from Splash, with small gold particles. Very pretty color. I've had it for a year and barely used it, so sad!
I dashed some of the pink on the inner lower lower lid as well and the rest of the lid was painted in turquoise...just to add a drop of fun to it.

In the outer corner of the upper lid I accentuated the look with dark gray and topped it off with fake lashes from KISS (I think these were the Juicy Volume #2)

As colorful as my new year could get...
Fireworks were happening on my face as well as in the sky. And I was happy with the results... as crazy as it might have looked..

Would you dare color your 2013 crazy...?? Be it with make-up, nails, cooking, crafting or with (fill in your talent/passion). Go ahead...sprinkle some color on your new year...

In the Kitchen: UPDATE no bake chocolate goodness

Remember the no bake dessert I made last week?

Well this week I tried it out again. And mind you, I had two mini orders :P
So I decided to tweak it up a little bit.

Last time I used liquor cake. But the ready made liquor cake is expensive. So this time I bought a packet of lady fingers and a bottle of Curacao Liquor instead. Didn't want to change the color of the cookies..so I went for the white liquor. Drenched the lady fingers in the liquor, and voila!
I also decided to mix the chocolate pudding with cream cheese and cover the whole dessert with a chocolate crust.

OMG...this is just a sin in layers... I'm in love!!!
Both people that ordered loved it as well...one of them ate it right in front of my house and the other messaged me within 10 minutes after leaving my house to tell me how much he enjoyed it.
Mission Accomplished...I'll see what I'll try next time!!!

Until then, here are some pics of the tweaked dessert...

The two minies...ready to be picked by the owners. Mine, cut up and ready to serve

Want a piee???
DEEEEEELICOUS!!!

Had anything special you prepared this Holiday and want to share the recipe with us? Mail me at hellodazzlingblog@gmail.com and let me know.
(btw, the recipe to this one is in the previous post about the no bake chocolate goodness)

Until later love bugs,
